Nigeria’s Digital Future Bolstered as Kano Industrial Park Rises from Vandalism

Kano, Nigeria – In a significant stride towards accelerating digital transformation and fostering economic empowerment across Nigeria, IHS Nigeria, a leading telecommunications infrastructure provider, has announced the successful restoration of the Kano Digital Industrial Park. This vital hub, unfortunately vandalized during protests in August 2024, has been brought back to life through a strategic partnership between IHS Nigeria and the Federal Government, facilitated by the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

The ambitious restoration project encompassed a comprehensive overhaul of the park’s . This included extensive renovation, furnishing, and equipping the facility, alongside the crucial provision of essential power and connectivity infrastructure. Furthermore, the park’s training labs are now outfitted with state-of-the-art digital equipment, setting the stage for advanced digital skills development and innovation.

The newly revitalized Kano Digital Industrial Park was officially commissioned at a ceremony in Kano. The esteemed gathering included the Honorable Minister for Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, who represented the President, and the Deputy Governor of Kano State, representing the State Governor. Also in attendance were the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission and the Minister of State for Youth Development, underscoring the collaborative effort and national importance of this initiative.

Leading the IHS Nigeria team at the commissioning event was Kazeem Oladepo, the Chief Operating Officer, signifying the company’s deep commitment to the project and its broader vision for Nigeria’s digital landscape.

This partnership and the successful restoration of the Kano Digital Industrial Park mark a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s journey towards a more digitally inclusive and economically vibrant future, demonstrating resilience in the face of adversity and a shared commitment to progress.
