Modibbo Adama University Yola

Modibbo Adama University, Yola (MAU), formerly known as the Federal University of Technology, Yola (FUT, Yola), is a prominent public research university located in Girei, Adamawa State, Northeastern Nigeria. Established in 1981, it was one of seven federal technology universities founded to address Nigeria’s need for skilled, innovative, and technologically oriented manpower.

Historical Journey:

The university has undergone several transformations since its inception. It briefly merged with the University of Maiduguri in 1984, becoming the Modibbo Adama Campus (MACUM), before regaining its full autonomy in 1988. In 2011, its name was officially changed to Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH) in honor of Modibbo Adama Ibn Hassan, an influential scholar and the founder of the Adamawa Emirate. In 2021, President Muhammadu Buhari assented to the Modibbo Adama University Yola establishment bill, solidifying its current identity.

MAU is accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and is dedicated to advancing science and technology-based research.
