The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), founded in 1888, is the premier and most prominent non-profit business organization in Nigeria, serving as the leading voice for the organized private sector. It provides a platform for the business community to interact with the government and other stakeholders on matters of trade, industry, commerce, and agriculture.
Mission and Role
The primary mission of the LCCI is to promote, protect, and support the interests of the business community. It acts as a crucial link between the private sector and the government, offering informed opinions and data-based research on economic policies and legislative measures that affect the business environment. The Chamber is frequently consulted by the government on new legislation affecting the business community.
Key roles include:
  • Policy Advocacy: Engaging in dialogue with all levels of government and regulatory institutions to improve the business climate in Nigeria.
  • Trade Promotion: Facilitating local and international trade through trade missions, exhibitions, and B2B networking sessions.
  • Business Support: Providing services such as business advisory, education, and mentoring programs, especially for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Key Activities and Services
The LCCI offers a wide array of services to its thousands of corporate members, who account for a significant portion of Nigeria’s industrial output and financial services:
  • Lagos International Trade Fair: The chamber’s flagship event, an annual exhibition and trade promotion platform that attracts local and international investors, exhibitors, and visitors.
  • Networking Events: Hosting high-level events such as CEO roundtables, diplomatic luncheons, and the “Security Meets Business” dialogue, allowing members to connect with industry leaders, government officials, and diplomatic corps.
  • Training and Development: Offering various workshops, seminars, and a dual vocational training program in collaboration with international partners to enhance members’ skills and knowledge.
  • Trade Documentation: Endorsing certificates of origin for members at a modest cost, facilitating international trade.
  • Access to Information: Providing access to a business information center with numerous trade journals and periodicals, as well as its own publications like the “Economy and Business” journal.
Structure
The Chamber is organized into various sectoral groups, including Oil & Gas, Agriculture, Creative Industry, Manufacturing, and Telecommunications, allowing for specialized advocacy and networking opportunities that cater to specific industry needs.

The LCCI operates from two main locations in Lagos:

  • LCCI Conference and Exhibition Centre: 10 Dr. Nurudeen Olowopopo Way, Agidingbi, Lagos.
