He directed the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to ensure the airport meets all operational standards.

Overland Airways’ New Route and Fleet Expansion

Captain Edward Boyo, Managing Director of Overland Airways, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, deploying a brand-new Embraer 175 aircraft with premium and economy class options. The airline will initially operate three weekly flights, connecting Minna to Lagos and Abuja, with plans for international interline partnerships in the future.

Economic and Developmental Impact

The Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport is expected to:
✔ Boost economic activities in Niger State and neighbouring regions
✔ Enhance tourism and logistics
✔ Provide an alternative hub for air travelers, reducing pressure on Abuja’s airport
✔ Improve regional connectivity under the federal government’s decentralization agenda

Minister of Information Mohammed Idris reiterated the government’s commitment to partnering with state governments to drive national development.

Conclusion: A New Era for Nigeria’s Aviation Sector

The launch of Overland Airways’ operations in Minna signifies a transformative phase for Nigeria’s aviation industry.
