
Abuja, Nigeria – In a significant stride towards building a digitally empowered workforce, the Federal Ministry of Education has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide free digital skills training and certification to students and educators across all tertiary institutions in Nigeria. This ambitious initiative is a cornerstone of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at expanding access to crucial 21st-century skills and fostering a robust digital economy.
The program, officially unveiled via the Ministry’s X (formerly Twitter) handle, will primarily focus on cutting-edge digital competencies, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning.

“The Federal Ministry of Education has teamed up with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to launch a free digital skills programme for students and educators, covering cloud computing, AI, machine learning, and more. Under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the programme will be rolled out to all federal, state, and private tertiary institutions. The best part? Certification is 100% free, split between the Ministry and AWS,” the Ministry stated, highlighting the accessibility and direct benefit to participants.
Over 40 Institutions Already Enrolled
Implementation of the program has already commenced in federal institutions, with remarkable momentum. The Ministry confirmed that the initiative is “Already live in 43 federal universities & polytechnics, the programme is expanding fast. Schools can now register coordinators to kickstart training. Don’t miss out, sign up now.” This widespread initial adoption underscores the demand and potential impact of the program.
Call for National Participation and Coordinator Appointments
To ensure that the benefits of this training reach every corner of the nation’s academic landscape, the Ministry is actively calling on school administrators from state and private tertiary institutions to appoint program coordinators. These coordinators will play a crucial role in facilitating enrollment and overseeing the training within their respective institutions.
Vice Chancellors, Rectors, and Provosts are explicitly instructed to submit the details of their nominated coordinators via a dedicated Google form by 5 PM WAT on Friday, July 19th, 2025. “The Office of the Honourable Minister kindly asks all Vice Chancellors, Rectors and Provosts of Private and State Tertiary Institutions to fill in the below form with the details of your appointed Coordinator by or before Friday 19th July 2025, 5 PM PROMPT,” the Ministry urged.
Institutions interested in enrolling are expected to complete the official nomination form, providing essential information such as:
- Title (Dr, Mr, Mrs, Prof.)
- First and Surname of the institution head
- Position: Vice Chancellor, Rector, or Provost
- Name of the institution
- Institution type (State or Private)
- Institution address
- Phone number (WhatsApp) of the institution head
- Appointed Coordinator’s full name
- Coordinator’s designation/role at the institution
- Coordinator’s phone number
- Coordinator’s email address
